Dr. Cecil O. Myers
Dr. Myers was born in Americus and raised in Lee County. He was an Eagle Scout and graduated valedictorian from Lee County High School. He graduated from Georgia Southwestern College with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Myers graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 1975 and began practicing in Americus.
As a junior dental student, Dr. Myers spent two weeks in Haiti working as a member of a dental mission team. He is a member of the American Dental Association, a Life Member of the GA Dental Association, and past president of the Western District Dental Society. He is also a member of the Hinman Dental Society of Atlanta and a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry.
During his career, Dr. Myers has been active in organized dentistry as a member of the GDA Executive Committee, a member of the House of Delegates, the governing board of the GDA. He also lectured on Dental Insurance for the GDA. He is a past Assistant Professor of Reconstructive Dentistry at the Medical College of Ga, his office serving as an Extern Training site for senior dental students. He is also past president of the Dental Hygiene Advisory Committee at Darton College. He has reviewed disciplinary cases for State Board of Dentistry and was a consultant to a dental investigator for Secretary of State's office.
Dr. Myers is married to the former Carolyn Silvey of Greensboro. Carolyn has a Masters Degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and was Assistant Professor of Nursing at GA Southwestern College and later Director of the Medical Assisting Program at South GA Technical College. They have three children, Trey who lives in Nashville, Michael who lives in Athens, and Meredith who lives in New York. Dr. Myers and his wife are members of First United Methodist Church in Americus.
Over the years, Dr. Myers has been active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and a coach for Jr. Pro Girls Basketball. He is a Paul Harris Fellow of the Americus Rotary Club. He has been on the Board of Directors of Sumter Electric Membership Corp. for twenty-four years and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board. He enjoys tree farming, quail management, deer hunting on his farms and Georgia football.
